| Absolutely horrible... |
My nine year old son has been a Jeopardy fan for a few years now. When he saw this unit that was the only thing he asked for for his ninth birthday. Sadly, it was absolutely not worth it in the least.
1. The controllers are rather flimsy and must be aimed at the base unit just right or it won't pick up the signal. This can be frustrating when you have more than one person trying to play.
2. The graphics are absolutely shameful. The original Nintendo graphics were better than this.
3. When the board comes up and you are asked to pick a category there are NO dollar amounts on the board. After you choose a category you are THEN taken to another screen where you choose your dollar amount. This can be confusing when you're choosing categories because, with the absense of the dollar amounts there is no way to know which categories are completed unless you click on them. VERY frustrating and such a silly oversight.
4. There are only 20 episodes! Not only are there only 20 episodes on the included DVD but I have seen no mention of additional DVD's with more episodes. This means that, after you've played all 20 episodes, the unit is useless unless they come out with additional DVD's.
5. Lag-time between screens is painfully slooooooooooow.
6. The questions/answers are all multiple-choice. Not much intelligence needed to guess.
You would think with all of the advances in technology someone could come up with something worlds better than this. Truly, don't waste your time or your money on this piece of junk. |

| Jeopardy- Somewhat Okay, IF you can get it to work. |
This game system is only somewhat fun, even the poor graphics and the choices of only 20 playable games (expansion packs? No, not an option). When we first bought this game, it was difficult to get it to work. We tried to set it up with 8 (yes, EIGHT) different DVD players, none of them working.
When we finally found a DVD player to work (Apparently a Closed Caption/Subtitles option is needed) (Which even a $200 Sony DVD player doesn't have), we were very disappointed with there only being 20 'episodes' to play through. needless to say after two 'Jeopardy nights' we were done with the game, and have yet to play it again.
$50 dollars for a game with limited playablity? No, thanks, I'll stick to board games.
The other rotten feature of the game is that all the questions are multiple choice. The Jeopardy video games for Playstation 2 and for Sega were better than this. They are (in Sega's case) 15 years old and STILL BETTER than this game.
Would I buy it again given the chance? Never. |

| I'll take things that don't work for $400 Alex |
I got this for Christmas 2007, I was pretty happy to see it as my family and I take pleasure in watching Jeopardy, and when we saw that a DVD game of it was out we wanted it! But what we got was far from a blissful experience.... What we got, was an unholy nightmare of an experience!
After opening it up on Christmas morning, we were all egger to open it up and play it. Now I've opened some pretty intricate things in my time, but this by far was just horrendous! After I was done opening it, you couldn't even tell that it was the box it was in. It was just a pain to get this thing all out.
Then you needed 10 batteries to get this thing going! I mean I realize the buzzers having batteries but that box? You could have just used a power plug on that thing!
Also it only comes with one Composite cable, you need two to get it working.
We tried it once in one room, but it wouldn't work due to how the setup was. The only other room it could work in would be my younger brothers room, as I use my PlayStation 3 as my primary DVD player, and never had to have need for a stand alone DVD player, as before getting my PlayStation 3 I used my PlayStation 2. This is also a bummer.
After figuring out how to hook this up, which took us around 2 hours. You have to set up the buzzers. Now you have when you start the DVD a tutorial on how to program, this comes up EVERY TIME YOU TURN IT ON, AND CAN NOT BE SKIPPED!
After we got this thing to work, all the buzzers didn't work, the game was super slow, and would even freeze.
My brother then unplugged it, and we're trying to get the thing to work again! I went to the site, and tried to find the instructions for it, but only found how to set up the buzzers! I mean seriously the DVD tells you how to do that!
The good thing about this product is that it teaches you patiences, and is pretty durable, as it's been throw around a couple of times. |

| Jeopardy |
I should have paid attention to the reviews that I read before purchasing the MGA Jeopardy DVD Base System With Game. It was a Christmas gift that never worked. After hooking it up to the DVD player at my Daughter's house, it would not work. The troubleshooting instructions suggested trying a second DVD player. She had a brand new on that was still in the box. After replacing the functional DVD player with the new one, the game still would not work. It was shipped back to Amazon after the holidays. I do not recommend this game. I rated it with one star because the program would not let me submit a review without a rating. My honest rating is 0. |
