| cool handheld electronic toy |
once my kids mastered Connect Four (we have the portable folio version -- recommend for travel!!), I had them use the electronic one so they could play on their own against the computer. It's a great way to build a focusing skill and develop strategic young thinkers. It's not a noisy game and great for the car or just sitting on the porch swing. |

| Another perspective |
Personally, I am not a big game person. I grew up in the day when computers were the size of huge buildings and watched them get smaller and smaller. I purchased this game a couple of years ago. I am still playing it pretty well. The main reason I did was to learn not only how to play but how to win. And, for women, there is plenty of challenge because of the spatial component of it, I would say. At least that is why I think I am still playing it. I find 5-10 games makes me tired enough mentally to get to sleep. Better than a book for me. I find it interesting to do some of the unexpected things and see how (and if) it can get me out of it with the hints. I am at the point that I create my own methods and formulas. The hints will, almost all of the time, make you fill up nearly the whole matrix before you win, but you do win. Although I am very bright and talented, I suppose that because I do not "think like a guy", I find it more challenging than other reviewers. I am a scientist at heart and learn visually and through trial and error. That is why I like it so much as an adult. After working all day programming computers, the simplicity of this game really winds me down fast. I am also very uncoordinated so that is another possibility. |
