| Cheap, Effective Little Product |
Ok, like so many others, I was getting upset with this thing and was ready to trash it--despite reading the other instructions from other reviewers. I'm going to make a modification to what AME mentioned, not because what's written there is wrong, but because I still messed it up even with those precise instructions.
If you're getting "Cannot Connect to Device!" then do the following:
1. Uninstall the current Photo Viewer software.
2. Go to Cobyusa.com at: http://www.cobyusa.com/?p=prod&prod_num_id=80&pcat_id=3001
3. Download the CORRECT VERSION FOR YOUR MODEL! You most likely have the DP-151SX. Check the back of the keychain for the fine print, and it will tell you. Make sure you download the right version. If you're getting Cannot Connect to Device, you probably have installed the MP version.
4. Install the software by running setup.exe
5. Connect your key chain to the computer
6. Choose USB Charge. Let it charge for the approximately 1 hour necessary.
7. Disconnect it when fully charged
8. Reconnect the keychain, choose USB Update
9. Run the photo viewer software
10. Load all desired photos into a folder on your desktop (or somewhere else convenient)
11. From software interface, open select photos to load onto keychain
12. Crop the photos as necessary; if you are confused, download the setup guide from that same Coby USA URL above. There aren't many buttons, if you click them all you'll eventually get it.
13. If you've got the SX version, when it's done it will say "Download Completely!"
Hopefully this helps. Best of luck. For $14, I must say I'm pretty pleased. |

| GREAT |
its a great photo viewer
everybody is writing that it doesnt work on XP but i connected it to both my computers PC and laptop with XP Home , and its working fine. just plug in the usb cable and it detecs it right a way. the software isnt the best but its really easy EASY to use, you can put 60 photos no matter what is their size, program will shrink them so you can fit 60 photos on unit. has a lot of options, slideshow, time, timer, setup for screen...
unit is light and it looks durable, screen has cover so it wont break, im testing the battery now and its been on in slideshow mode for 2 hours and its still running. cant say anything bad about it. im pleased with my self that i didnt listen to others people reviews. |

| Piece of Junk! |
Don't waste your time or money on this contraption. I am fairly computer savy and thought that I could definitely use this product with ease. The problem is that the computer won't even recognize the device. You can't possibly download anything to it if the computer doesn't even realize it's there. Basically it is a piece of trash now because I still have made no progress with it. I also bought the Jwin digital photo key chain and it worked beautifully. No problems, easy to use and very nice quality! If you want a digital keychain, go with the Jwin. |

| Worked fine with Mac OSX Tiger |
I was a little leery about this product. Other reviews seemed to suggest that the keychain's software would not operate properly when used with Mac OSX despite its packaging's claim that it should. I gave the keychain a shot anyway, because we do have a Windows machine in the house, though it's not our primary computer. I figured that if all else failed, I could always E-mail myself the pictures I wanted and use the Windows computer if I absolutely had to.
Well, I didn't have to. The keychain arrived and I installed the software on my Mac Mini without any trouble. The Mini runs Tiger (10.4), and I noticed the software claims to be compatible with Panther (10.3). I'm wondering now if those that had trouble are trying to run it on Leopard (10.5), which is not 100% backwards compatible.
At any rate, the keychain software was fairly instinctive. The only confusing bit for me occurred after I had selected my photos and uploaded them to the keychain. It seemed to do something, and then everything just...stopped. According to the manual, once you've uploaded the pictures you should close down the photo editor and disconnect the keychain, which worked just fine. However, nothing in the software indicated that this was the next step, so if I hadn't had the manual handy I probably would have assumed something had gone wrong.
My little pictures are displaying pretty well on the keychain screen. I'm not finding that the chain or clasp are inferior in quality; they're nothing impressive, but I think they're pretty standard as keychains go. The image quality isn't fantastic, but I think it's decent under the circumstances.
I purchased the item for $14.99. I think I got a pretty good deal. |
