| Nice set of Monitors |
They sound good and flat, REALLY GREAT for audio balancing! They kick the crap out of my PC speakers. I use to edit and if they sounded good through my PC speakers, but put them through a TV or a theater system and you'd hear the unbalanced spikes and drops. Thanks to these speakers my audio sounds perfectly balanced. Can't beat it for this price! |

| good stuff for the price range |
The price is right for what you get. A great upgrade for those wanting a decent sound representation for near-field monitoring. They are not so great for lower end sounds, however.
I wish M-Audio had a decent subwoofer option for these (at a decent price). One caveat: the tweeter cones are EASY to indent, so watch out when you are moving them. |

| Great Sound & Price Completely Satisified |
I bought these speakers to mix/master a hip hop demo for a friend so I didn't really need super expensive monitors, I used to produce alot in the early 90's so I have used more expensive monitors in the past.
That being said for the price I paid 137 shipped I expected just above average desktop speakers, i.e. bose etc not a decent monitor. I was pleasantly surprised when I received them. They are extremely loud without distorting and have excellent mid range with the switch, the bass is not overpowering just right.
The speakers build quality is also better than I expected they have a nice heavy feel. All in all these are great Monitor's for the price if you have a home studio etc, and I would also recommend these for just playing music vs the Bose Companion speakers for 99 get these instead. |

| Some nice surprises |
A few nice things that aren't mentioned in the product description or other reviews: these monitors have two inputs which are summed internally, great for those of us who want to connect these to our audio interface AND the output from our computer. Also, the 1/4" connection can be a balanced one if using tip ring sleeve cables.
Sure you can get better monitors, but if you've damaged your hearing by cranking up that guitar amp too many times, you probably can't hear the difference. So save some money.
One other thing that's just my personal sense of things is that I don't think these monitors are quite as flat as people say. At very high and very low levels, I think the bass response is weaker than the mid-high frequencies, about 2.5 to 5k. It's always a good idea to listen to your mix at different volumes, anyway, so you might notice it too. |

| small speakers -- GREAT SOUND!! |
I bought these speakers for my daughter for Christmas so she could listen to her Ipod music. She has had them for over a month, and loves them, as do many of her friends who come over to visit. They truly sound great!! We shopped all over trying to find something that sounded good, but nearly all of the boom boxes and Ipod players were disappointing unless the price was $300+ dollars. These speakers sound better than most of those too. They have flat, smooth response, strong depth and enough bass to rock a mid-size room. Like other reviewers pointed out, they are not meant to fill a big room. Since most of the remote functions on docking players don't work with the Ipod, it's just as well to control the music directly on the Ipod. She charges the Ipod while playing with an AC adapter/charger. Also, all of the docking players required that the skin be removed. That's a pain. With these speakers, she just plugs in the headphone plug and the power cord and enjoys her music. |
