| casseste over cd on album"golden age of wireless" |
Just recently, "The Golden Age Of Wireless" by Thomas Dolby was just purchased by me not too long ago. When I listened to the cd, the cassette version played an extended version of "She Blinded Me With Science", which is not on the cd. I also had both versions of the cassettes which had both versions of "Radio Silence" techno and pop versions. However, the pop version was not on the cd. I like the cd, but if they were to reissue it, it should include the pop version of "Radio Silence" and the extended version of "She Blinded Me With Science". |

| fabulous cd |
All the way one of the best! Great shipping service, fast turnaround, and a quality pressing of a very emotive album. |

| Wreck of the Fairchild |
What is it about this curious song? What IS it about this curious song? Combining increasingly frantic nautical SOS transmissions with 80's-era drum-machine electronic beats and a melody that's really just a (compelling) sequence of Dolby chords, this one hits like a crack pipe. I hereby defy any and all Dolby people to experience this bath and not elevate it to the top of the D-queue.
Isn't it puzzling that the two best Dolby songs (Wreck of the Fairchild and Radio Silence (Try to Think of Nothing)) are impossible to come by? What's that all about? I had to search out a 12" vinyl WOTF and rip it to WAV. Contact me if you want me to e-mail it. |

| An Jewel |
"The Golden Age of Wireless" by Thomas Dolby is an album that will stand on it's own two legs quite comfortably in regards to music's 'Golden Age of New Wave'. But Mr. Dolby's duet with Lene Lovich on "Cloudburst on Shingle Street"...is a hidden jewel for the rest of us who also love Lene Lovich. Thank you Mr. Dolby, and thank you Ms. Lovich. |

| An excellent album |
Despite its' age The Golden Age of Wireless still holds up just fine and is a must have for any lover of intellectual lyrics and masterful instrumentation.
Thomas didn't actually vanish following the spectacular success of She Blinded Me With Science. His followup to Wireless, The Flat Earth, took his talents into a broader array of musical styles and featured another genuine hit, Hyperactive. The third album, Aliens Ate My Buick, was a mixed bag of tracks that didn't do as well.
Tiring of the demands of the record business machine Thomas turned his digital music expertise to the online world, founding Beatnik (originally Headspace). Besides the creation of what was building to become a rather successful audio codec for web browsing, he was responsible for a good deal of the technology that gave us quadrophonic ringtones on cellphones. It's said that more than 50% of the world's cellphones feature this technology now and as he's commented in the past, "that's a LOT of phones."
Having the financial freedom now to produce his own albums and carry his own tours, Thomas is back in the music game with a new live album and DVD of his just completed (2006) tour, The Sole Inhabitant. His fans eagerly await promised new music in 2007. Those interested in catching up with Thomas' latest doings should refer to his website and blog at [..] where a number of clips from the tour are available as podcasts free of charge.
