Spirit

Amazing is the first thing that pops into my head as I sit down to write the review for Leona Lewis's debut CD: Spirit. This young woman has a voice beyond anyone's imagination. I bought this CD the day it came out and have not written a review until now because I cannot stop listening to it.

Upon hearing the first single: "Bleeding Love", months ago, I really did not know what to expect out of the full length CD. There is everything from pop, mid tempo jams to powerhouse ballads. I cannot praise Leona's voice, not to mention the songs on this set enough. Every song is sung with such passion and emotion that they all draw you in to that feeling that it was written for/with. All the songs on here are very radio friendly and melody driven.

My 2 favorite songs on this CD that I could play over and over and over and never get sick of are: "Take A Bow" and "Here I Am". "Here I Am" reminds me of a part 2 to Mariah Carey's "Hero". Sang with such flawless vocals and amazing power.

This CD is a must have for anyone's collection. You can tell Leona is a superstar that is going to be around for many, many years to come. This is one of my favorite CD's to be released in 2008!

I have to admit this album didn't really draw me in the first few times I listened to it, but it grew on me! If anyone were to read the lyrics, you can definitely tell that each song is EXTREEEEEMMELY well written. The production could have been better. The lyrics are not enough to draw anyone in after a first run, because we tend to listen to the beats first. If we like the beats, then maybe we'll pay more attention to the lyrics. This CD, on the other hand, has very good lyrics but beats aren't so catchy. I was hoping her vocals would be showcased more. Anyone can tell that she is a GREAT singer, but it seems like she's playing it safe and slightly holding back in most of her songs. But regardless, read the lyrics first....then read the lyrics while listening to the song, and trust me, you'll love it THAT much more!

This is one of the best albums I have heard in a long time!!! She has an amazing voice and long future ahead of her. I look forward to her next venture.

It's a shame this girl was given so many mediocre songs to sing. Bleeding Love is great, but by the end everything starts to blend in together. Be better off downloading the good songs (Angel, Better In Time, Forgive Me) and pray that she comes up with some better songs on her sophomore CD.

Okay first off she's not the next Mariah Carey... She's more like Christina Aguilera who has a beautiful voice but over singing all the time and songs that if you think Mariah's songs are forgettable, you seen nothing yet! Leona Lewis has a good 13 track single of her one hit on this album "Bleeding Love" Spirit is a great title but where's the SPIRIT? I didn't hear it, worst track is "The First Time Ever Saw Your Face" She sound's like she's about to go to sleep and take you with her. I bought this album hoping it would be as good as Jordin Sparks album but was dispointed. That's just my opinion some people love this low type of music. But I'm a more up tempo even on ballads.
