Wow!!! for the price I paid these are a nice addition to my living space. No smell either, zero odor. I suspect a batch may have been contaminated and that's why we see reports.

We purchased these the last time they were on sale. The sizes are just right...the small one is upstairs in the sitting room, the larger one in the basement rec room. The storage in the larger one is great. The quality is decent...we're not rough with them, and so far they look great and have no scuffs or anything...we use them both constantly as foot rests.
Regarding the chemical smell, they both smelled really strongly of vinyl/gasoline for several weeks. The smell made us both get bad headaches. The smell does eventually go away (or maybe it kills the nerves that detect the smell - either way we don't notice it anymore). I did put them outside in the sun for several days. Whether that helped speed the process, I don't know. But we've had them 5 months now and like them a lot.

I've had this set for over 4 months now and the smell has not subsided at all. I was using the big ottoman to store an extra bed sheet set, but it transferred its smell onto the sheets too. The smell is bad enough to make the set rather worthless to me.

We have a small living room, so I ditched our coffee table and opted for these cubes by Global Distinctions. Our family has been very pleased with their versatility. Sometimes we keep them side-by-side in front of the couch to form a staggerd coffee table, other times we keep the small ottoman inside the large and use the tray-top or with the cushioned side up as extra seating. But usually we fill the large one with clutter and station the small ottoman in front of our black leather occasional chair because it matches perfectly! This ottoman set is durable, stylish, and can easily pass as genuine leather.

The product had previously been on sale. I should have purchased them at that time with a better price. Satisfactory, but a bit overpriced for the quality received.
