| Rockford Rocks! |
This 1975-76 Season of Rockford is awesome and was the season when I started watching The Rockford Files more often and getting to like it better.
Rockford's 2nd Season is also better and more upgraded than Rockford's 1st Season was along with the fact that this was the season when Rockford's often frustrated cop buddy Los Angeles police Detective Dennis Becker(Joe Santos) became a full-time co-star on The Rockford Files and when they started showing Rockford's attorney girlfriend Beth Davenport(Gretchen Corbett) and Rockford's cheesy ex-con buddy Angel Martin(Stu Margolin) more often.
It was also cool how Rockford(Jim Garner) lived in a trailer in Malibu by the beach near Malibu Pier and how Rockford would commute from place to place in his gold Pontiac Firebird all over the L.A. Area, whether it was just driving from place to place to meet a client or in a car chase, which often resulted in Rockford's Firebird getting damaged or totaled, kind of like it was with the General Lee on THE DUKES OF HAZZARD.
THE ROCKFORD FILES also had a cool music scoring done by Mike Post & Pete Carpenter, which also became a big hot on the radio back in the 1970's as well, which I was also fond of as well.
I also got a kick out of Rockford being called "Rockfish" by his ex-con buddy(Isaac Hayes) and it was also kind of funny how Angel would always get Rockford in trouble and how Rockford would often get Becker in trouble, plus it was neat how Beth would always defend Rockford and end up bailing him out of a jam, especially when Rockford was in trouble with Becker's flustered fellow officer Los Angeles police Lt. Diehl(Thomas Atkins), whom unfortunately despised Rockford, but Beth's opinion always seemed to take priority and be more important than Lt. Diehl's along with the fact that Becker was extremely fond of Beth and would always take Beth's side over his fellow officers side from the LAPD.
So you could say that Rockford's First Season was when The Rockford Files was just starting to crawl and that Rockford's Second Season was when this show started to walk and get better and better every year season by season, except I think the episodes and seasons were better with Beth Davenport in them. |

What more can you say about one of the finest TV series of all time. Good stories played out by a great cast playing great charecters from Angel to Dennis to Rocky to Lt. Chapman and the smart and beautiful Beth.
Miss the entire series at your peril. |

| I love this show. |
I thought it odd that the pilot episode was put into the season two set...but oh well, still glad to see it. :D
I remember watching this show on TV as a kid & until last year, haven't given it much thought. Today I find it highly entertaining & really enjoy seeing all the guest stars that I remember from my younger days.
Great show, I'm totally hooked & must own them all! |

| The Rockford Files, Season 2 |
James Garner absolutely shone in this role. Twenty-two episodes here prove why he is considered one of this country's greatest actors. Garner could do it all; romantic leading man, tough guy, western hero & his comedic abilities were, perhaps, his strongest area.
This series was practically tailor made for Garner being, essentially, an update of the Maverick character he had portrayed fifteen years earlier. When Stephen Cannell pitched this series to Roy Huggins (creator of Maverick & The Fugitive), Huggins told him the same thing: This is Maverick updated! Get Jim Garner to play the role.
Bonus features include the original Rockford Files pilot which ran as a Movie of the Week. It's about 72 minutes long & full of vintage Rockford, There are some subtle differences from the subsequent series, the most notable being another actor portraying his father. Also included is a short interview with Cannell discussing the creation of The Rockford Files. |
