Champions Forever - The Latin Legends

This is a great item to have if you're a boxing fan. Unfortunately, it really falls short on the biographies, and also...and very important it's missing some of the greatest latin boxing legends. Figures like Wilfredo Benitez, Wilfredo Gomez,Esteban De Jesus. I guess because this dvd was aimed to Mexicans or somebody else but there were a few Puertorican boxers worth mentioning. All in all, not worth having if you are not Mexican.

This is a good video. My husband loves boxing (he is originally from Mexico) and he really enjoyed this video. His only complaint was that it didn't have enough Mexican boxers in it and it didn't talk long enough about Julio Caesar Chavez....but he still liked it!

Nice Attempt At A Tribute To The Latin Legends

This is an interesting, but limited view.

It's good for anyone interested in the Latin Legends - or any boxing fan to watch on a crummy weekend or if you have an hour and a half to kill.

The DVD focuses on Kid Gavilan, Carlos Ortiz, Salvador Sanchez, Alexis Arguello, Julio Cesar Chavez and - one of my personal favorites - Roberto "Hands Of Stone" Duran.

It really is a nice attempt at a tribute - there are some great highlights and bios on these great champs, but it truly falls short.

There is just not enough. It seemed incomplete and unfocused. I wanted more clips and highlights and simply - I wanted more complete information. I expected better and expected more.

As a whole this is a good DVD - not great, but good.

It was great to see the interviews and fight footage of these great, and in many cases underappreciated, champions of the ring and life. One thing that bothered me though was the inclusion of an interview with Jose Suliaman and his opinion of the Chavez vs. Taylor fight.
Suliaman is one of the sleaziest names in boxing and his opinion that Richard Steele's stoppage of the fight three seconds before the end was justified really angered me. Meldrick Taylor would've won the fight if not for the stoppage and now he is broke, severely brain damaged, and still an active fighter. As anyone who saw him interviewed on HBO's Legendary Fights would agree this is very sad.

This was a fun and inspiring video to watch. It was great to see clips of and interviews with Arguello, Duran, Gavilan, Sanchez, Ortiz and Chavez. Just one thing troubled me the inclusion of Jose Suliaman and his opinion of the Chavez vs. Taylor fight. Suliaman is one of Don King's right hand men and as many people know Meldrick Taylor would've won the fight had Richard Steele not stopped it three seconds before the end of the fight. Meldrick Taylor is now severely brain damaged, and broke with several children to support and the way this film made it look Chavez was the unquestioned victor of the fight and the decision was just. Very sad.
