| just like old times....almost |
I bought all four seasons of ALF on DVD and was very happy when I got them in the post. But I would have to agree with the other reviews out there....it really is a big shame that the producers have decided to cut down the episodes which they put on the DVDs, and this applies to all seasons. It is still very funny, and brings back old memories, however real ALF fans will notice the difference and will be sad to find the (sometimes) funnies bits of the episodes completely missing.

| I'm Buying this Season for 1 Episode! |
I am not a huge ALF fan. I liked him okay when he was on air, and watched the episodes when the aired- but i didn't love it. Strawberry Shortcake- I loved. My Little Pony? I loved it. So, you are probably asking yourself why am I writing this review? I love one episode from the entire ALF series-one- and that is the Christmas episode from Season Two. I've had that one epiosde on VHS since I was a child, and it is truly more moving every time I see it. In the epiosde ALF struggles with Christmas. He gets into an arguement with Willie about the holiday's true meaning (while the family is spending Christmas at a friend's rustic cabin), and he becomes a stow away on the back of someone's truck, ending up in the children's ward of a hospital as a "stuffed toy." From there, ALF witnesses the various stages of our existence: death of innocence, the beginnings of life and along the way finds his humanity. ALF learns that Christmas is not about what you can get, but "about giving of yourself."
Truly, one of the most(if not THE most) moving holiday special from a TV series I've seen.
My VHS is all worn out. If I must buy the entire season for this one episode, then so be it. It is worth it. |
