| Best PDA I've tried |
I received the iPAQ 111 two weeks ago. I will be leading a team of engineering students on a humanitarian trip to rural Africa next month. Students will be performing a variety of tasks, and the Task and Calendar features are exactly what I need. We will be spending thousands of dollars in cash (no credit card accessibility) and we can keep a running account and projection of expenses vs. budget using Excel. Each purchase can be entered at the time it occurs. The final report can be written in sections during the trip using Word. Best of all, the Transcriber feature is fantastic. It recognizes my handwriting very accurately, and I can enter information almost as fast on the iPAQ as on my PC keyboard. I did turn off button 4 so that I wouldn't activate it with my little finger when I'm transcribing. The Wi-Fi works well. My contacts synchronized seamlessly once I downloaded WMDC from Microsoft (I have Vista on my PC). So far battery life is very good, but I'm not playing music. I have tried Palm devices in stores and they do not come close to matching the iPAQ for convenience and the features that I need. |

| I like it for the most part |
I have just had this ipaq a few weeks. Unfortunately i broke my other one and needed to replace it. For the most part i like it very much. Does what i need it too do and then some. The only draw back that i have with it is the battery life. It seems to go thru the battery fast. I would buy this one again if that helps. It is really easy to use and i love it. The price wasn't bad on it either. I would recommend this one to anyway that ask. You won't be sorry. I wasn't at least not so far. |

This product is excellent but my concern was on the battery because its not for long usage you have to charge it. |

| A first time pda user's impression |
Having never used a pda this was an entirely new experience for me and I have no context to which to compare it to.
So take that for what its worth.
Battery life is the biggest negative.
Ease of use is the biggest positive.
A crystal clear display majes this a pleasure on the eyes.
The sylus is a little awkward to get to but get over it.
I have not, todate, successfully connected to a wifi zone and navigated the internet. Always get some kind of error. Nothing is automatic and you need to read manuals and know things I have no interest in learning about. At home, it somehow completely ruined my pc's access and I had to restore the system to a checkpoint to get it to work again.
So the automation of wifi and internet useage is still a mystery to me.
Loading active sync onto the pc is more overhead we don't need running on our overly taxed machines.
Why can't there be thin client application to interact with these little devices.
I added a little memory card you can pick up for under 10 dollars if you shop around which added 2 gig to storage. You will need this if you want to use the machine. The time has come to have included this cheap little plastic chip considering we spend close to 300 bucks for this little toy.
The applications seem to work pretty easily.
The pdf viewer opens pdf files but they are pretty difficult to read since the pdf documents are only going to display a small area of their text while using it.
It's limited - what else can I say.
I have very little interest nor do I understand why others want to shlep hardware around on their bodies making running awkward.
The leather case it comes with does not clip onto your belt and I had to cough up another 25 bucks to buy a leather case. |
