| Diamond VC500--I Was Disappointed |
The Diamond VC500 One Touch Video Device is easy enough to set up. I don't know how it works on others computers, but my computer is fast enough to handle the transfer. It is easy to record to your computer and it starts out fine. After a little while the audio and video are not synchronized together. I tried it several times and got the same results. I wouldn't recommend this product. I was very disappointed in it and ended up returning it. |

| OneTouch OK; ULead software poor |
I purchased the OneTouch capture device in order to convert 8mm tapes over to DVD. The OneTouch device functioned fine. I was able to convert my vido tapes into a digital format. The ULead software, that came with the OneTouch, however did not function as advertised. It worked intermittently burning DVD's or and was unable to save to my computer into a DVD (ASCI) format to be burned by other software later. It would run for about 2 hours (one hour of video) and at 99% complete, the software would crash. The few times that it did burn a DVD, Christmas music and a Christmas border was present. It could not be turned off.
I contacted ULead, whereby I was informed that they no longer provided product support for my version. They suggested I "upgrade" to their current product. I spent $40 on the OneTouch Device. ULead wanted an additional $80 to upgrade my software. I declined.
The OneTouch capture works well enough to get info from tape to digital format, so I will be keeping it. I have given up attempting to burn DVD's from those files, though, and recommend staying away from any ULead products. I also attempted to contact OneTouch, but their website would not accept consumer requests.
To summarize, I would not recommend the package purchase if your desire is to burn DVD's. However, if you simply want to convert analog tapes into digital format, OneTouch will accomplish that. |

| What I expected |
I had read the mixed Amazon reviews before, so I got what I expected: for a price that's not too high, I am able to transfer footage from my analog camera to my computer. User interface is decent. Quality is not great, as some had warned, but I'm not sure that can be avoided; I've used $2000 equipment before and I still lost a lot of quality digitizing footage. |
