| This should be standard equipment on vans & SUVs |
This is a fantastic safety product. It dramatically increases your field of vision out the back window. Without the lens, I can barely see the ground at the end of my driveway and can't see a 36" child until they are almost half way down the driveway. With this lens I can see the ground about 5 feet behind my van, and can see the same 36" child standing a few inches from the back bumper. Quite a difference! I'm no longer terrified I'm going to back over a little kid in the daycare parking lot. It also makes backing into tight parking spaces a breeze. No ore worries about clipping someone's bumper.
It's very easy to install. Honestly. A seven year old could do it. Clean the window, wet the window, place the lens on the window, and smooth out the bubbles. Three minutes maximum.
I highly recommend it for any vehicle with a mostly-vertical rear window and no part of the vehicle sticking out behind it. It would be great for minivans, SUVs, wagons/hatchbacks, cargo vans, etc. but it wouldn't do much good on a sedan or a pickup truck - you'd get a great view of the trunk or bed.
It does take some getting used to and may even be a bit distracting having it in the back window at first, but anyne who drives my van regularly says they adjusted to it without a problem. I'm sure you will too. And once I got used to it, I found I felt blind backing up without it.
The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is that the "sticky" wears off after a while and it eventaully falls off the window. I've had to replace mine a couple times over the years, though the weather conditions probably have something to do with it because it's always been around the same time of year. I'm willing to live with this flaw because it's so inexpensive to replace and so easy to install the new one. Still, I would be willing to pay a little more to get one that would stay on indefinitely. |
